Name: AA-S9V "Snive"
Rank: N/A
Tier: High 4
Background: AA-S9V (“Snive”), one of the more developmentally complex units within the Model ABC Prototype line, represents an early iteration of the BB-series concept. This prototype was designed as a hybrid between a B2-style combat droid and a modular rotational chassis, in which the torso is capable of continuous multi-directional rotation. This rotational capability enables cycling between integrated combat, sabotage, and dismantlement tools.
The unit’s limbs are magnetically attached and fully articulated. Unlike later BB-series units, the head is fixed to the upper body and does not exhibit independent locomotion. Instead, it remains stabilised via a system of magnetic wheel mechanisms that counter-rotate relative to the body’s movement, maintaining an upright orientation. The head possesses a 360-degree field of view, facilitated by a horizontal band of distributed visual receptors encircling the structure.
AA-S9V was commissioned by the Confederacy of Independent Systems (CIS) and constructed by a droidsmith on Yavin 2. Its initial training regimen was conducted under CIS supervision, supplemented by embedded behavioural and combat programming from its creator. The unit departed Yavin 2 prior to completion of its training cycle. As a result, it lacks mastery and comprehensive operational knowledge across several of its intended functions, relying instead on self-directed adaptation for combat utility.
Following the development of BB-C03 (“Cothree”), a unit designed with an emphasis on astromech support functionality rather than direct combat and eliminating the limb system, AA-S9V was decommissioned and deprioritised. BB-C03 demonstrated increased mobility, broader utility, and a favourable reception among its creators. AA-S9V did not initially exhibit explicit competitive fixation, but it developed a perception of obsolescence. This was driven by its replacement with a unit optimised for support and repair rather than combat and destruction, functions that AA-S9V was designed to perform.
This perceived invalidation resulted in the development of hostility toward BB-C03, directed at the preferential treatment it received from workshop personnel, including its creator. Subsequent to this period, BB-C03 disappeared under unclear circumstances. AA-S9V initially registered this event as a resolution to its displacement. This expectation was not realised. The workshop retained BB-series blueprints as proof of concept and shifted focus toward alternative designs. At this stage, AA-S9V’s status transitioned from replacement to effective erasure.
This condition persisted until AA-S9V later encountered recorded footage of BB-C03 operating within a facility owned by an individual identified as “Degara.” The footage depicted BB-C03 dismantling a shuttle from within and functioning as an asset within the 415th unit. This observation catalysed an escalation in AA-S9V’s behavioural instability, characterised by fixation on recognition, status, and historical primacy.
In response, AA-S9V returned to the original workshop, where it destroyed remaining BB-series design materials, including blueprints and prototypes. Following this act, the unit initiated an objective to locate Belderone, commandeering a small carrier vessel to facilitate transit.
Speed: High G Combat Speed
Abilities: Beyond Peak Human Strength. Mastery in Jetpacks. Highly Proficient in Street Hand-to-Hand Combat. Proficient in Blaster Rifles, Slicing, Mechanical Mind, and Blaster Pistols. Skilled in Clubs and Jetpacks. Begun Training in Projectors.
Equipment: Custom-built Rapid-Fire Blaster Rifle (Level 0); Custom-built Plasma Baton; Flamethrower; Mechanically Folded Jetpack; Piston-Operated Mechanical Arms; Durasteel Body and Armour; Internally-built Comm System
Weaknesses: AA-S9V is especially weak when in the mid-air, unable to perform any combat action while doing so. As such, whenever the droid takes flight, one should either use the time to regain their strength, or press the attack. This particular make of droid is also extremely top heavy, and thus can be tripped or made to fall through odd movement or emergency acrobatics. Lastly, the droid has found themselves with an extremely bad anger habit, and thus can be manipulated to extremely easy degrees in a combat scenario.
