Name: Walon Vau

Rank: Mandalorian

Tier: High 2

Background: Walon Vau was a Human male Mandalorian mercenary who served as a True Mandalorian and Cuy’val Dar years before the formation of the Grand Army of the Republic. Born on the isolated preindustrial planet of Irmenu, Walon Vau was heir to title of Count of Gesl, which was held by Walon’s father. The Count of Gesl was cruel and physically abusive to Walon, his father beating much of Walon’s emotion and empathy out of him as a child. Despite the senseless beatings he received, the young Walon voiced his dream to follow in his father’s footsteps and join the Imperial Irmenu Navy. However, upon hearing of Walon’s intent to join the Navy, Walon’s father would scrutinize and belittle Walon for his dream.

After the thrashing Walon would receive from his father, Walon would find comfort in a new found love; the princess of a neighboring Irmenu province. The two would spend much time together, forming a strong emotional bond that would remain hidden from their parents and provinces for some time. After months of hiding their love, Walon and the princess announced their plans for marriage to their parents, something that would be immediately turned down by both provinces. Despite the refusal of marriage, the pair’s love continued on, and they ran away together. After days of searching, the two were found and forcefully separated from each other, both being thrown back to their home province’s where Walon would receive a beating that left him emotionally scarred. The princess was sentenced and imprisoned, however Walon was lucky in his eyes and exiled from the planet.

Shortly after his exile, Walon would find himself on the planet of Mandalore, which he would come to view as a new home. As per Mandalorian society, it wasn't long until he was adopted and trained to be a Mandalorian warrior. Not only would Walon take keenly to the traditions and culture of Mandalore, but the man also found an innate interest in technology, especially after spending his whole life knowing little about technology. Among finding his place in the galaxy, Walon also found one of the only living things that he would ever truly love, a young and intelligent Strill who he would name Lord Mirdalan. The two formed an instant bond, one that would hold forever.

After years spent traveling the galaxy alongside Mird as a mercenary, Walon would find himself a place in the ranks of the True Mandalorians under Jango Fett. However, Walon's time with the True Mandalorians would come to an end when the Battle of Galidraan occurred, something Walon would feel guilty for as he was absent from the battle. Walon's loyalty to Jango would not end there, however. Years later, when later Jango approached Walon with an offer to join a group of training sergeants called the Cuy'val Dar, Walon would accept Jango's invitation, the man feeling he owed as much to Jango.

Walon would go on to train 104 Commandos, four of which making up Delta Squad. Walon trained his Commandos harshly so they would survive when the time came, something that would pay off during the First Battle of Geonosis. Out of the 5,000 Commandos killed during the battle, only three were Walon's, something he felt immensely proud for. Walon trained the commandos in Delta Squad, and gave RC-1262 his nickname, Scorch, after an ordnance accident that left them both without eyebrows for a time. He also once had his arm broken in combat training by RC-1138, otherwise known as "Boss". Walon was extremely violent, once sicking his pet strill, Lord Mirdalan, on a young Ordo. Also on Kamino, he allowed Mird to hunt which resulted in the death of a "menial" and "genetically inferior" Kaminoan, causing Walon to feel much the same way about the Kaminoans as Skirata. Walon lost three of his Commandos in a training incident on Kamino, the forth, a Commando named Atin, challenged him to combat afterwards. Walon would give Atin many lasting scars in the fight, and Atin swore to one day kill Walon.

After Walon paid what he felt was his debt off to Jango, Walon would leave his affiliation with the Republic behind for the time being, until he was recruited by Kal Skirata to aid in eliminating terrorist cells on Coruscant. Walon would help Skirata alongside Delta Squad and another one of his previous Commandos, Atin. Walon would assassinate the leader of a terrorist cell, Perrive with a single Verpine round and the help of Mird. After his time helping Skirata was up, Atin would face Walon in combat again, nearly beating Walon half to death for his brutal training. If it were not for Bardan Jusik, Atin would have likely killed Walon. The fight put aside their differences, with Atin realizing Walon only did it from a place of love, even if it was twisted.

Some time later, Walon was caught in the Day of Chaos on Coruscant, aiding in the deaths of many Jedi. Unlike most others, Walon was content with what he had done, and even viewed it as his rightful revenge against the Jedi. Upon the aftermath of the Day of Chaos, and hearing the news of Kal's death, Walon would fake his death alongside Mird, leaving Delta Squad the only ones to know that he was alive.

Weaknesses: Walon is old and frail, and thus a significant physical advantage (either through strength or agility) is a surefire way to gain a critical advantage over him. Walon cares for Delta Squad like they were his own sons, and he would become unbalanced and exploitable if the group was in trouble or in danger. This also implies to his pet, Lord Mirdalan, and this should be exploited in a combat encounter if possible.
