Name: Jace Malcom
Name: Jace Malcom
Rank: Displaced
Tier: Low 2
Background: Jace Malcom was a Human male Republic trooper who served in the Special Forces Division of the Republic Military during the Great Galactic War and the Cold War. Malcom grew up on the Mid Rim world of Barcaria, but left at a young age to join the Galactic Republic's defence forces. By 3681 BBY, he was serving as a corporal aboard a Jedi-run space station in orbit above Korriban. In that year, the reconstituted Sith Empire returned to known space to reclaim their lost territory and exact revenge upon the Republic. During these early days of the ensuing Great Galactic War, the Empire launched a massive strike against the Jedi and Republic forces at Korriban in an effort to retake the world which had once been their holy capital. Malcom was caught in the battle, but managed to escape the onslaught alongside Jedi Padawan Satele Shan and the incarcerated smuggler Captain Nico Okarr.
The war continued for nearly three decades, during which time Malcom was inducted into the Republic Army's Special Forces and granted command of the elite Infantry Squad 326. Under his leadership the unit performed highly risky raids into enemy territory and earned the moniker of Havoc Squad. At the height of the war, the squad was stationed on the Core World of Alderaan while the bulk of the Republic Navy was elsewhere in the galaxy combating the Sith. While Malcom was on the planet, the Sith forces of Darth Malgus invaded Alderaan, ravaging it. Malcom and his comrades took to the forests to wage a guerrilla campaign against the Imperials, and when Malgus turned his army toward the Alderaanian capital, Havoc Squad positioned themselves to ambush him. In a pitched battle in the forests outside the capital, Havoc Squad routed the Imperial Army and Malcom fought and defeated Malgus himself with the aid of then-Jedi Knight Satele Shan, the engagement leaving the right side of his face heavily disfigured by his own grenade.
The victory catapulted Malcom and Havoc Squad to galactic fame. Colonel Elin Garza recruited him to help found a new, fully fledged and independent Special Forces Division, and around the same time Malcom fostered a secret relationship with Shan that ultimately culminated in a tense breakup. Before their relationship died, the two sired a son, Theron Shan. Malcom later received a promotion to colonel.
Following the end of the war and the implementation of the controversial Treaty of Coruscant, Malcom was asked to return to Alderaan to oversee Republic combatants in the bloody civil war that had engulfed the planet. As Strategic Advisor to Alderaan for the Republic Army, he monitored troop deployments and tactical plans and maintained the military alliance between the Republic's armed forces and the noble House Organa. Under his supervision, the despotic King Bouris Ulgo was deposed and the Organas solidified their advantage in the war over the Imperial-backed House Thul. By the closing years of the Cold War, Malcom was already being spoken of as the obvious successor to the office of Supreme Commander, a promotion he was widely expected to receive in the coming years.
Malcom never made Supreme Commander. Somewhere on Alderaan, between one campaign and the next, he joined the ranks of the Displaced.
He arrived in the modern day with his personal affects, and nothing else. The Republic he had spent forty years serving was centuries dead, now in a shape he hardly recognised. Satele Shan was a name in the history books. Theron, the son he had barely known, had lived a full life and died in it without him. The Battle of Alderaan was a chapter in a war that the galaxy had moved on from, and the man who won it was, apparently, him, though looking at the holos and reading the accounts, Malcom found a man staring back at him who he barely recognised.
Everything that had defined him was already over. He had not lived most of it yet, and he was not going to.
And so, Malcom drifted. He took whatever work would have him, slept where he could, and tried not to think too hard about the version of himself who was supposed to have become Supreme Commander and never would. He was not the legend in the books. The legend in the books had finished his war. Malcom was the leftover, the man the history pages had been written about, walking around in a galaxy that had already eulogised him.
It was the Contest of Champions that found Malcom eventually. He does not remember much about how it happened, there was a confrontation without doubt, but for the most part, clarity came with waking up in the holding cells beneath the Capital City arena without his kit and with a fight on the card for that night.
And so, Malcom proceeded to win. And win again. And again after that. His personal affects returned to him as he climbed, returned by the men who had taken them, now as prizes.
He fights now because fighting is the one thing the legend in the books and the man in the arena still have in common. He is not Supreme Commander. He never became him in any way whatsoever. Instead, he lives in his own shadow, trying desperately to escape it while waiting for greater purpose to find him.

Weaknesses: Malcom can be extremely foolish and reckless when the target in question is a personal one, typically overpowering Sith. This, in a combat situation, might get him killed, especially as he runs towards them head-on. Furthermore, Malcom still fights as a trooper despite his background as a Supreme Commander, and any enemy who manufactures a crisis at the front can pull him out of a command location and into their chosen ground. Malcom suffers at long-range, and one should typically try to engage him from this distance. Finally, Malcolm has somewhat lost his way, the act of being Displaced having stripped him of the war, the command, and the people that gave the uniform meaning, leaving him unwilling to become Jace Malcolm again until something gives him a reason to.
